Genetic profiling in the classroom. It’s like something from a science fiction movie.

But is it really the way of the future?

Researchers have developed a genetic score that predicts educational outcomes, and some think it could be used to provide targeted interventions in schools.

But leading geneticist Kathryn Asbury urges caution. She says teachers need to be debating the benefits and drawbacks before genetic profiling in the classroom becomes a new reality.
